"THE MAGIC"...of "WAITING"
Hebrews 10:36 Psalms 18:30

By: Edward King March 7,1997

Why do you suppose that the phrase "WAITING" ...O.K.,
the word "WAITING" has such a negative conotation for most of us?

Could it have anything to do with our inherent craving for INSTANT GRATIFICATION in all things and at all times?

Even those of us who read in the Bible the many great and precious and generous PROMISES of God;when we decide on occasion to take God up on one of His PROMISES, we have a very strong tendency to want and expect God to come through with His part of the PROMISE instantly, even though He never said when He would do His part. God simply said that He would...do His part.

One of several things I have finally learned about God...is that when He says He will do something, you not only can be certain that He will do it, but you can be sure that He will do it...AT THE RIGHT TIME...AT JUST...THE RIGHT TIME.

And THE RIGHT TIME is ALWAYS better...FAR better than RIGHT NOW...UNLESS, of course,RIGHT NOW is AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME!

However,Experience would seem to indicate that such is the exception rather than the rule. (Could it be that seed time harvest time has something to do with that?)

Regardless, though, when God says that He will do it,it goes without saying that He WILL DO IT AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME!

For instance, God promised Abraham that He (God) would give Abraham a son and that He (God) would make Abraham the father of a great nation and He (God) added by saying,
"I will make you the father of many nations".

And notice, God did not once say...
when he would do this...not once.

He simply told Abraham that He would...do it.

Now remember that Abraham is 90 years old and Sarah his wife is 80 years old...does this sound like something TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? Remember this when you get to the special announcement at the end of this page!

Almost immediately, Abraham and his wife Sarah decided that God had already WAITED (there's that word), they decided that God had already WAITED too long and so they had better help Him out of this predicament. And the rest of that mistake is history.(The results of that mistake is dominating world news today and no doubt will continue to dominate world news until Jesus returns!)

The irony of all this, is that God, who knows everything, knew that THE RIGHT TIME was 10 years in the future. Enough of trying to out guess God. Have you ever been guilty of that? Join the Club!

Of course, Abraham being a man of faith soon realized his mistake and we read in the Book of Hebrews that Abraham, after learning his lesson, while working on his PHD in patience, we read that Abraham...

WAITED...PATIENTLY...UNTIL...FINALLY...

God gave him a son,Isaac, just as He had PROMISED.
And we should note...

AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME,

Which just happened to be...10 years later!

How much "WAITING" can one do during a ten year period of time? That is a lot of anticipation, correct?

I don't know about ten years,
but I do know that five years is a lot of "WAITING",
when you are the one doing the "WAITING";

However,I have found that five years is not all that long, In fact, you don't even notice the time or the "WAITING" when you are in daily contact with God and He is daily reminding you that at JUST THE RIGHT TIME everything will come together just as He planned it from the beginning.

There is definitely a connection here
With the PEACE that God talks about so much!

One of the many truly great and generous PROMISES from God is found recorded in the Old Testament Book of Malachi.

In chapter 3 in what we refer to as verses 8&9 we read these words:

"You have robbed me of the tithes and offerings due to me. And so the awesome curse of God is cursing you,
For your whole nation has been robbing me!"

And then God goes on in verses 10,11&12 to make us a great and wonderful, generous PROMISE when He says,

"Bring ALL the tithes into the storehouse so that there will be food enough in MY TEMPLE;

If you do,I WILL OPEN UP THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN for you and pour out a blessing so great you won't have room enough to take it in!

TRY IT!

LET ME PROVE IT TO YOU!

Your crops will be large, for I will guard them from insects and plagues.

Your grapes won't shrivel away before they ripen,"
says the Lord of Hosts.

"And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land sparkling with happiness. These are the PROMISES of the LORD OF HOSTS!"

I don't know about you,

But I have tried TITHING several times over the years and it never worked for me.

Did God lie to me? OF COURSE NOT!
God cannot lie,He never has lied...
And He never will lie...

REMEMBER? God cannot lie now or ever. So?

Just what is the problem?

It should be obvious.

The problem is me and my ignorance,
My ignorance of God's Word.

Well, on March 26,1992 I made a decision and recorded these words in a note book of mine:

"Today, March 26,1992,I begin anew paying tithes AND OFFERINGS...see Malachi 3:10&11 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-10
As I vow to get honest with God in my life and in my finances, I expect God to abundantly bless me in my life and my finances. Praise you, Lord Jesus!"

Well, March 27, 1992 came and went and still there were no additional checks in the mail...What was that about me not having room enough to take it in?

But brother, this time things were different. I didn't know how it would all play out,but I did know one thing for sure. I knew that I was going to be paying tithes and offerings from this present moment for the entire rest of my natural life here on earth and I gave God permission to take as long as He wanted...to come through with His part of the deal.

Quite frankly,I didn't expect Him to take a whole year...

or two...or three...or four.

Well, today is March 7,1997 just 19 days short of our fifth anniversary and I still don't know when God will come through with His part, but one thing I do know and that is this:

I am in this deal for the long haul, until death do me part.

For five years I have been doing everything I could think of to generate cash flow and every month for the past five years I have been going deeper and deeper into debt trying to get out of debt.

I know without even the slightest doubt that all is well and my God has everything under control.

How is this for a seven point jewel?

1.Far more valuable than gold in a vault
2.Is assurance in my heart
3.Of the knowledge in my head
4.That God is meeting all my needs
5.According to His riches in glory
6.By Christ Jesus my Lord
7.AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME!

I wil let you in on a little secret. From the very beginning of this little journey on March 26, 1992
I have been aware of the fact that God has indeed opened the windows of heaven and has been flooding me each day of these past five years with more daily blessings than I have had room to receive them...SO THERE!

For instance...BUT FIRST I AM COMPELLED TO POINT OUT TO YOU THAT I WOULD HAVE MISSED THE BLESSINGS COMPLETELY HAD I BEEN FOCUSING ON FINANCES AS I HAD ALWAYS DONE IN THE PAST. THIS TIME I WAS DELIBERATELY FOCUSING ON GOD AND HIS PROMISE...AND THIS TIME I GOT A DIFFERENT RESULT. THIS IS KEY AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT!(This paragraph is being added "TODAY" August 24,2004) And now back to continue my March 27,1997 testimony.

For instance, He has caused me to be consciously aware of His presence in my life each and every day of these past five years. THAT ALONE IS PRICELESS...

And during these last two years He has been showering me with dozens and dozens of beautiful original Gospel songs...AND...they just keep on coming..plus the many great revelations from His Word, many things I had looked at but had never seen in the Word!

And allow me to share with you a fantastic revelation from the Lord as I was continuing my current daily journey through the Scripture this very day March 7,1997!

Having just been reminded that Abraham WAITED...PATIENTLY...UNTIL...FINALLY...God gave him a son, Isaac,JUST AS HE HAD PROMISED!

I was startled as I began reading the first verse of the eleventh chapter of Hebrews. I had read these very same words many, many times during the past fifty years, but this morning, I received a fantastic revelation.

Listen to this:

What is faith?

It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen!

It is the certainty that what we hope for is "WAITING" for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead!

Let me repeat that!

Faith IS the CONFIDENT ASSURANCE that something we want IS GOING TO HAPPEN!

It IS the CERTAINTY that what we hope for IS "WAITING" for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.

Do you see it?

All the time we have been feeling sorry for ourselves because we have been "WAITING" for God to finally get around to doing His part of our agreement and here it IS bigger than day, the thing we wanted and God has PROMISED us has been "WAITING" just as long as we have...

And what has it been "WAITING" for?

Read it again...there it IS...plain as day!

It has been up ahead...all the time...just "WAITING"...

"WAITING" for us to get there...AND TAKE POSSESSION!

Let's trade revelations!

And speaking of REVELATIONS How's this for timely information? Just received from Kenneth Copeland Today,
November 8, 2004.

November 8 - The Hidden Things of God

Dear Edward,

"Blessed art thou...for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."
(Matthew 16:17)

Remember when you went to school and learned your ABCs? You learned them by using your five senses and your logical abilities to gather information and sort it out. That kind of knowledge is called natural knowledge and it's the only kind most people know anything about.

But in the kingdom of God, there's another kind of knowing. One that works its way from the inside out instead of from the outside in. It's called revelation knowledge.

Jesus spoke about this kind of knowledge in Matthew 16. He'd just asked the disciples, "Who do you say I am?" Peter had answered Him by declaring, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

"Blessed are you, Simon," Jesus responded, "because flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father which is in heaven."

In other words, Jesus was saying, "Peter, you didn't learn this information through your physical senses. You received it another way. You received it directly from God."

If you've ever had a revelation like that, you know that when it comes, it changes things. It makes you see old things in an entirely new light. It gives you such unshakable confidence that, as Jesus said to Peter, "The gates of hell can't prevail against you."

But revelations like that don't come easily. You have to meditate the Word and search the Spirit of God for them because they are "hidden" in Him. The Bible says God has hidden His wisdom for the saints (1 Cor. 2:7-9). Notice, He's hidden it for you, not from you. He wants you to have it.

Don't think, however, that God is just going to drop great revelations into your lap while you're watching television. You have to seek Him.

If you're hungry for revelation knowledge, get yourself in a position to receive it by meditating the Word, praying, and fellowshiping with the Lord. Begin to receive those revelations from Him. It's the most exciting kind of learning there is.

Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 2

Yes, There is only ONE source of real abiding PEACE and His Name Is JESUS!

And also true...NO ONE can receive anything, unless God gives it to him...NO ONE!

And,by the way, I always thought that tithing was all about money...have you ever known anyone who thought that tithing was all about money?

Trust me...it's not all about money...It includes money but...

IT'S ALL ABOUT PRIORITIES

YES, TITHING IS ALL ABOUT PRIORITIES...

LIKE IN...SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD...

AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS...

And all these things shall be added unto you...

NOBODY WILL EVER CHEAT YOU...

AS MUCH AS YOU WILL CHEAT YOURSELF...

BY ROBBING GOD OF HIS TITHES AND OFFERINGS!!!

February 22,2003 I feel compelled to share today's Faith To Faith Newsletter by Gloria Copeland as it reinforces this subject...The Magic Of Waiting!

February 22

Be Willing to Wait

"He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles."

(Proverbs 21:23, The Amplified Bible)

There's just no two ways about it. To live a life of blessing, we have to make our words agree with what God says. Not just for a few hours or a few days, but ALL the time.

If you've ever done that, you know it's not easy. As time wears on and the circumstances around you appear to be stubbornly determined to stay in the same miserable condition, it can be hard to keep on speaking God's Word. But you have to do it if you ever want your harvest of blessing to come in.

When Kenneth started preaching prosperity, I sat out there and listened to him with holes in the bottom of my shoes. But we knew our financial problems didn't change what the Word of God said. We knew His prosperity promises were true even if we hadn't been able to tap into them yet.
So, even though we felt foolish at times, we just kept on talking about God's generous provision for us.

I realized later that the Word went to work for us from the first day we began to believe it and speak it and order our lives according to it. Our prosperity crop began to grow the moment we started putting seeds in the ground. It just took time for them to come up.

Sometimes, believers don't last that long. They start planting well enough, but when they don't see immediate results, when the bank account gets low and the rent is past due, they get discouraged and begin to speak words of lack and defeat. They tear up their crop with words of their own mouth, and they never get to enjoy the fruit of it.

The next time you strike out on faith, whether it's in the financial realm or any other area, keep that in mind. Determine from the beginning that you're not going to let that WAITING PERIOD discourage you. Then hang on until the Word of God is manifested in your life. Put patience to work and keep your words in line. YOU WILL receive your harvest.

SCRIPTURE READING: Proverbs 18:4-8, 20,21
**********************************************************
Today October 16,2004 I received this great piece regarding the place and power of patience by Kenneth Copeland.

October 16 - Put Patience to Work

Dear Edward,

"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."
(Hebrews 10:35-36)

Most of us have a distorted idea about patience. We think of it as something designed to help us suffer failure gracefully, but according to these scriptures, it will actually put us on the path to success!

Patience (or being consistently constant) is the power twin of faith. They work together to see to it that the promises of God are fulfilled in your life.

Say, for example, you need a job. You can go to the Word and see clearly that God promises to provide your needs. You can see He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. Once you see that, faith takes hold and you shout, "Hallelujah, I've got the job I need."

But what happens to that faith tomorrow morning when you go to three interviews and get turned down all three times? Then what? That's when patience has to take over! That's when you have to make a decision to stay constant, to act as if nothing's changed.

The truth is, if you based your confidence on the Word of God, nothing has changed. It says exactly the same thing it said yesterday.

So, if you'll put patience to work, you know what you're going to say after those three unsuccessful job interviews? You're going to say, "Hallelujah, I've got the job I need!" just like you did before.

You see, faith opens the door to God's promise for you; and patience keeps it open until that promise is fulfilled.

Do you have your faith sights set on a promise of God today, a promise you've been waiting on for some time? Don't let the delay discourage you. Put patience to work. The Word guarantees you will receive your reward.

And while we are on the subject of the importance of standing firm on the unmoveable, unchangeable LIVING WORD of JESUS CHRIST, THE LIVING CREATOR GOD, here is more support from Gloria Copeland TODAY November 14, 2004!

November 14 - When the Pressure is On

Dear Edward,

"Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name."
(Malachi 3:16)

Have you ever noticed that those who have the most exciting, faith-inspiring testimonies are those who've been under pressure at some time in their lives? They're the people who stayed faithful when the pressure was on. They're the people who believed God's promises of prosperity in the midst of desperate financial situations or trusted God for healing in the face of a terminal disease.

My friend, when you get into a hard spot, that's not the time to back out on God and begin to say, "Well, God, why did You let this happen to me?" It's not the time to step back and reevaluate His faithfulness.

What I'm saying to you is this: When tough times keep dragging on and the situations around you seem to refuse to get in line with the promises of God, don't reevaluate God! He's not missing it, and He's not failing.

If you're going to reevaluate anything, reevaluate yourself! Look and see where you may have failed. If you still can't find out what the problem is, just say, "God, I don't know what's wrong here, and I'm asking You to show me. But one thing I know, the problem's not with You, and I continue to be moved by Your Word and not by circumstances." Then, when He reveals something to you, be quick to make changes.

I want to encourage you to stand firm and to keep honoring God with your words. The Lord is listening to you when the pressure is on. What is He going to hear?

And "TODAY" December 4, 2004 Here is Gloria Copeland with another great reinforcement to the necessity of being determined to stay with your commitment to be honest with God and your money.

December 4 - Honor God and He'll Honor You

Dear Edward,

"Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
(Proverbs 3:9-10)

Proverbs gives us a very basic principle of success. It is this: If you want God to honor you and bless you in any area of your life, you're going to have to honor Him in that particular area.

If you want God to bless you financially, you're going to have to honor Him with your money, or as this verse puts it, with the firstfruits of all your increase. In other words, you're going to have to tithe.

Ken and I know that from experience. When we started our life with the Lord, we were in terrible shape financially. And we stayed that way for several years because we failed to tithe consistently. Oh, we tried to tithe, but we'd never last long at it.

Then, one day, we made a quality decision that we were going to tithe no matter what. That's when we started coming out of trouble financially. When we began honoring God with our money by tithing, He began to help us in that area in miraculous ways.

You may say, "Well, Gloria, I just can't afford to tithe right now."

But let me tell you, you can't afford not to! If you don't start honoring God with your money, you'll be in the same financial position next year that you're in today.

So do it--even if it looks like you can't afford to. God is faithful! If you'll honor Him by giving Him the ten percent that belongs to Him, He'll help you with the rest.

Give God His first. Do it in faith, expecting. As you tithe, worship Him and be grateful for what He has already done in your life. You'll be amazed when you see what He can do.
